On May 25, 2022, Rio Hondo College’s COVID-19 Taskforce recommended to the Superintendent, through consensus, that outdoor masking be strongly encouraged, indoor masking be mandated, vaccinations to not be required, and no weekly testing. The Superintendent/President consented with the COVID-19 Taskforce recommendations.

On June 8, 2022, through the recommendation of the COVID-19 Taskforce, the Rio Hondo College Board of Trustees unanimously approved to suspend the vaccination mandate for students and employees and authorized the Superintendent/President to amend the applicable Board Policies and Administrative Procedures to reflect said amendments.

The mandate was initially approved on August 18, 2021, during a Special Board meeting that has resulted in 99% vaccination rate for employees.
